Ted Ballantyne

Ted Ballantyne joined the CTV News Writing Desk in March 2025. He specializes in lifestyle, sports, entertainment, domestic and international news, covering stories in a way that informs and engages audiences. Proudly raised in Waterloo, Ont., Ted’s news journey began on the opposite side of the country, in Squamish, B.C. There, he hosted the daily Mountain Monitor news show, and reported and anchored local news in the beautiful Sea-to-Sky corridor. His next stop would be at Sportsnet in Toronto, before moving to CTV News Toronto as a promotions producer. Ted’s academic journey took him through the University of Guelph, as well as Wilfrid Laurier University and Humber College. He still identifies as a Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawk, earning a degree in history from the university. Ted speaks English.
