Andy Garland

Andy attended the Applied Communications Program at Camosun College in 1999 and became hooked on producing videos. He started his broadcasting career in 2002 at CHAT TV in Medicine Hat as a news photographer. In 2004, he started moving west and worked for CityTV and Global News in Calgary. After having his first child, Andy and his wife wanted to be closer to family on the island and in 2008 he accepted a job at the Nanaimo bureau for /A\ News Vancouver Island, now know as CTV New Vancouver Island. Since his time here, Andy has been recognized for his work behind the lens and has been apart of several stories that have won RTDNA awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award. After several transitions, Andy is now a multi-skilled journalist, or jack of all trades in the television media world, and covers stories from the Cowichan Valley north to Port Hardy and west to Tofino and Ucluelet. Outside of work, Andy enjoys spending time with his family, hitting the links and cheering on his Flyers and Packers.
