Vehicle fire near Port Mann Bridge causes ‘major delays’

A vehicle erupted in flames near the Port Mann Bridge on Monday morning, snarling traffic during rush hour.

DriveBC said the incident happened in the Coquitlam exit lanes of Highway 1 westbound around 6 a.m., and initially blocked two lanes of traffic.

While the scene had been cleared by around 8 a.m., westbound commuters were warned to expect “major delays” on the bridge.

It’s unclear whether anyone was hurt in the fire. CTV News has reached out to B.C. Emergency Health Services for more information.
