Authorities are investigating an explosion that shook a Surrey, B.C., neighbourhood and left a man injured Monday night. The Surrey Police Service said the blast was reported along 100A Avenue, in the Green Timbers area, around 9:15 p.m. The cause of the explosion has not been confirmed, but the department said it “does not appear to be related to the ongoing series of extortions” in the city. Paramedics took one man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The blast also sparked a house fire, which was extinguished by Surrey firefighters, authorities said.
