TORONTO -- Mark Cohon will not seek a third term as CFL commissioner.

His contract expires next spring.

Cohon has spent eight years in the position.

The CFL has undergone several changes over his tenure, most notably the league's return to Ottawa with the expansion Redblacks.

Cohon also helped negotiate a lucrative broadcast deal with TSN and RDS, and was involved in labour talks this year that led to a new agreement with the CFL Players Association that runs through 2018.

Chairman Jim Lawson says the league's board of governors will discuss the next steps toward finding a replacement for Cohon soon.
