TORONTO -- Toronto FC's injury woes have deepened with news that star striker Jermain Defoe has been sidelined once again.

Manager Ryan Nelsen says Defoe is seeing a specialist about a lingering groin injury and will be out for several weeks.

The good news is that Nelsen says it is not a season-ending injury.

The England striker has been hampered by hamstring and groin issues this season. Nelsen believes they are all related.

Toronto FC will also be without injured defenders Steven Caldwell and Justin Morrow for Saturday's game against visiting New England. Fullback Mark Bloom is expected to be back after leaving to attend the birth of his child.
