2. Ferguson protests: National Guard reinforcements helped contain the latest protests in Ferguson, preventing a second night of the chaos that led to arson and looting after a grand jury decided not to indict the white police officer who killed Michael Brown.

3. NDP MP open to sexual misconduct probe: One of two anonymous female MPs alleging sexual misconduct at the hands of two Liberal MPs says she’s open to participating in a formal probe into the matter. The unnamed MP says she would be interested in participating in a House of Commons probe, but refuses to reveal her name or go to the police out of concern for the impact on her future and her family.

4. Vets wait too long for care: Veterans Affairs Canada found itself in the crosshairs Tuesday, when an auditor general’s report said most veterans face an unnecessarily complicated and drawn-out application process to gain access to much-needed long-term healthcare benefits. The Conservative government has vowed to implement the auditor general’s recommendations to improve its service for those dealing with physical and mental health issues.

5. Here comes Santa Claus – but not too soon: A new survey finds most Canadians enjoy Christmas music in December, but they don’t like it when malls start playing holiday tracks in November. Approximately six in 10 Canadians said their shopping experience in November would be improved if they didn’t have to listen to Christmas music at the same time.
