1. More abuse allegations: A total of eight women, including a Canadian TV actress, have now come forward with allegations of abuse at the hands of Jian Ghomeshi, according to a Toronto Star report published Wednesday night. One of them, actress Lucy DeCoutere, told the newspaper that during a 2003 date with the radio host, Ghomeshi allegedly choked her to the point she could not breathe and then slapped her repeatedly. She says Ghomeshi "did not ask if I was into it."

2. Tax relief for some: Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to announce an income-splitting tax break for families with children under the age of 18 later today. The move will allow a higher-income spouse to transfer up to $50,000 of taxable income to a spouse who is in a lower income bracket.

3. Terror or crime? A debate has emerged among MPs and party leaders about whether the deadly shooting in Ottawa on Oct. 22 should be deemed an act of terrorism. NDP Leader Tom Mulcair was criticized Wednesday, for saying that Ottawa shootings gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was a criminal, not a terrorist. Conservative MP Peter Kent called Mulcair's comment "ridiculous," saying "it was clearly an act of terror (based on) his background and motivation."

4. 'Operation' creator can't afford his: John Spinello created the popular board game some 50 years ago, but never profited from its success. He's now struggling financially, and needs $25,000 to cover his health-care bills.

5. Giants of baseball: The San Francisco Giants have won the World Series, beating the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in Game 7. Madison Bumgarner pitched five nearly flawless innings to help win the team's third championship in five seasons.
