1. Border shooting: Officials say a Canadian man who was shot at the Windsor-Detroit border crossing early Sunday was waving a replica handgun at U.S. border officials. The man has since been treated for his injuries and detained, and could face charges in both Canada and the U.S.

2. Father faces charges: A disturbing case of child abandonment in Surrey, B.C. has police recommending charges against the father of a three-year-old boy. The toddler was allegedly slapped and abandoned at a bus stop on Saturday. Police later took the father into custody, and the boy has since been reunited with his mother.

Outpouring of support: An online fundraising campaign has raised more than $76,000 for an “energetic, stubborn” nine-year-old New Brunswick girl whose arms and legs were amputated due to severe complications from strep throat. “We were just amazed,” said the father of Alyssa Sippley. “We weren’t expecting this much support.”

Fresh faced: Officials with the Wildrose Party are set to announce their new interim leader this morning in Calgary, after former leader Danielle Smith and eight other Wildrose MLAs crossed the floor to join the Alberta PC’s last week. 5. Let Love Conquer: A Toronto artist has taken on a pretty unique project – he wants to photograph 100 couples who have come together from different religions. So far, those include Judaism, Hinduism, Catholicism, Anglicanism – and even atheism. "People who are letting love conquer that divide are great examples of communicators," Colin Boyd Schafer says. "Surely we can all learn from that."
