Strapped for time but looking for a quick morning update? Well, we've got it.

Here are the 5 things you need to know this Tuesday: MPs vote to extend Canada’s military mission in Iraq and expand airstrikes into Syria; Amazon’s drone service is being tested in rural British Columbia; today is the deadline for 68 New Democratic Party MPs to repay $2.75 million for the use of satellite offices; Trevor Noah was named the successor to the "Daily Show" throne; and a historic first in Japan. Plus we’ve compiled five facts on royal baby names as the world waits for the sibling of Prince George.

1. The battle against ISIS: MPs voted 142-129 Monday night in favour of extending Canada’s military mission in Iraq and expanding airstrikes into Syria. The NDP and the Liberals did not support the Conservative motion, questioning the legality of Canada’s involvement in Syria and accusing the prime minister of not being upfront about the mission. The Tories, on the other hand, said Canada has a duty to act in the face of a growing global threat posed by Islamic State militants.

2. Amazon drones: The online retail giant has kept much of its delivery drone testing under wraps, but it confirmed on Monday that one of the test sites is somewhere in rural British Columbia. A spokesperson wouldn’t reveal the specific location, but said the B.C. test site is one of several international locations set up to help get Amazon's Prime Air project off the ground. If all goes according to plan, a drone could soon be dropping off your Amazon purchases.

3. Payment due: Today is the deadline for 68 NDP MPs, including leader Thomas Mulcair, to pay back a total of $2.75 million owed for the use of satellite offices in Montreal and Quebec City. The deadline comes hot on the heels of questions about the party using taxpayer-funded constituency offices as staging grounds for door-to-door canvassing blitzes dubbed “days of action.”

4. Meet Trevor Noah: Trevor Noah was named the successor to the Daily Show throne Monday, and if you’ve never heard of Trevor Noah – well, you’re not one of his two million Twitter followers. Though he’s relatively unknown in North America, the 31-year-old has a fairly large following around the world. Brush up on your Noah knowledge with five things to know about the South African comedian.

5. Historic first: The Shibuya ward in Japan – a subdivision of Tokyo – is the first locale in Japan to pass a bill recognizing same-sex unions. While not legally binding, people who violate the bill will have their name posted online.
