Here are the 5 things you need to know this Monday: A state of emergency has been declared in a B.C. community reeling from flash flooding; a safety announcement that ties in with Facebook is expected today; tributes are pouring in for John Forbes Nash Jr. and his wife who dies in a car crash on Sunday; the United States and Iran have engaged in a war of words over the fight against the Islamic State; and a Halifax cab driver says he was wrongfully arrested after his passenger committed a series of crimes.

Plus for Money Monday, we take a look at the tenacity you need to find the perfect job.

1. B.C. flooding: A village in the B.C. interior declared a state of emergency Sunday after a violent storm over the weekend triggered flash flooding in the area. Cache Creek was hammered by torrential rain and hail, causing a river that runs through the village to overflow. Officials say between 30 to 35 homes have been rendered uninhabitable by the disaster.

2. Facebook announcement: Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney, along with police forces across the country, will announce a new Facebook feature to coincide with International Missing Children’s Day.

3. ‘Beautiful Mind’ genius, wife killed in crash: Tributes are pouring in from both the film and academic world for mathematical genius John Forbes Nash Jr. and his wife Alicia, who were both killed in a car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike Sunday. Nash, whose struggle with schizophrenia inspired the 2001 film "A Beautiful Mind," won the Nobel Prize in economics in 1994 for his work in game theory. Russell Crowe, who portrayed Nash in the Oscar-winning film, tweeted that he was stunned by the loss.

4. ISIS mission: U.S. Defence Secretary Ash Carter issued harsh criticism in the fight against the Islamic State Sunday, saying the militant group’s takeover of Ramadi showed that Iraqi forces lack the "will to fight." The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has issued a retort, saying the U.S. has ‘no will’ to fight the Islamic State.

5. Unwittingly helped a criminal: A Halifax cab driver says he was wrongfully arrested after he unknowingly helped shepherd a man around the city as he committed a string of robberies. Harry Richard says he was just doing his job and had no idea the man was committing crimes.
