CTV's Janis Mackey Frayer went to small villages outside Kathmandu, to report on the post-earthquake devastation affecting small communities in Nepal's countryside.

Aid appears slow to arrive in villages that are not easily accessible.

CTV's Daniele Hamamdjian, meanwhile, remains in Kathmandu, reporting on the rescue and recovery efforts.

Efforts to bring aid and rescue workers to the region are being hampered by a damaged runway in Kathmandu.

Many children are unable to attend classes because schools are damaged or destroyed.

The remoteness of several villages makes it difficult for aid to arrive. See her report below:

Daniele Hamamdjian is following the efforts of Canada's DART crew, ready to work in Nepal.

Hamamdjian says that the team of Canadian rescuers went toward a region that needed help, however it was only accessible by helicopter.

But with no choppers to get there, the team went elsewhere.
