CARACAS, Venezuela -- Venezuelan authorities say a small plane crashed into the sea off the country's coast. One woman died but six others aboard the plane survived, including two children.

Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said the twin-engine Beechcraft BE58 went down east of the coastal city of Cumana.

Reverol said the pilot had declared an emergency due to the failure of both engines and put the plane down in the water.

Reverol said that after Saturday's crash the plane was found in the Gulf of Cariaco by fishermen.

He said on state television that a 62-year-old woman died and that the survivors, including two children, were being treated at a hospital. The plane had been flying from Puerto Ordaz to Venezuela's Margarita Island when it went down.
