Woman dead, man injured in hit-and-run: Manitoba RCMP

A 42-year-old man has been charged in connection with an alleged hit-and-run that killed one person and injured another.

RCMP officers were called on April 17 at 9:30 p.m. to a reported hit-and-run on the main road in Berens River.

When Mounties arrived, a 24-year-old woman was found dead, and a 23-year-old man was found with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP allege the pair were walking on the north side of the road when they were hit by a truck heading north. The driver then allegedly fled the scene.

He was later identified and arrested.

The driver, from Berens River, was charged with dangerous driving causing death and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. He was taken into custody.

The charges have not been proven in court.

RCMP continues to investigate.
