Winnipeg-made candles burning bright beside Hollywood stars

CTV Winnipeg: Local candles heading to Hollywood Celebrities at the Oscar and Grammy Awards will get some Winnipeg-made candles included in their swag bags.

Attention is really heating up for a Manitoba candle company. Amanda Buhse started Coal and Canary with her best friend Tom just three-and-a-half months ago, and now their candles are going to the Academy Awards.

Their specialty gift box of three distinct scents will be included in the Oscar and Grammy Award celebrity swag bags.

Coal and Candle is boxing up its first shipment and will send out the rest in a few weeks’ time.

"It's been a juggling act, but it's so exciting, and just the thought of a celebrity having our candle in their home, is just beyond what we ever would have imagined," said Buhse.

Each candle is hand-made with all natural products and comes with a catchy name, like “Swag Bag and Jet Lag”, which Buhse believes sets them apart.

A limited run of the custom box will be available for the public.
