Traffic stop leads to 2 men facing multiple charges

A traffic stop led to a seizure of two firearms and a slew of charges for two men.

Just before 2 p.m. on Thursday, officers in the West End saw a male passenger in a taxi travelling westbound on Logan Avenue. Police say the man was leaning outside of the window, not wearing seatbelt and yelling at a person at a bus stop.

Police stopped the cab and found a handgun on one man and a sawed-off shotgun on the other man. In addition, one of the two men also presented a false ID, police said.

Officers seized the firearms and both men were arrested without incident. The 36 and 32-year-old men are each facing multiple charges, including firearm and weapons-related offences, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

Both were detained in custody and none of the charges have been tested in court.
