Reduced speed limits coming for seasonal bike routes

Winnipeg drivers will soon have to slow down on a handful of streets as biking season is set to begin.

Beginning on May 1, the following streets will see speed limits reduced to 30 km/h as they are part of the city’s annual seasonal bike routes:

• Lyndale Drive from Cromwell Street to Gauvin Street;
• Wellington Crescent from Academy Road to Maryland Street; and
• Churchill Drive between Hay Street and Jubilee Avenue.

Kilkenny Drive between Burgess Avenue and Kings Drive and Kings Drive between Kilkenny Drive and Patricia Avenue will be reduced to 40 km/h.

The City of Winnipeg notes that these speed limits will be in place 24/7 until late October.

Turning requirements at select intersections on each route will be added following the city’s spring clean-up. They will be in place on weekends in May, June, September, and October, and 24/7 throughout July and August.
