Ride for Dad raises $330K for cancer research The 8th annual Motorcycle Ride for Dad raised more than $330,000 for prostate cancer research.

That roar you hear is the thunder of hundreds of motorcycles riding to help raise money for prostate cancer research.

The 8th annual Motorcycle Ride for Dad rolled out of the parking lot at Earl’s Restaurant at Polo Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Around 1,100 registered riders turned out for ride, which went from Polo Park to the Assiniboia Downs, then up to Gimli and back again.

CTV Winnipeg’s Gord Leclerc was there for the opening ceremonies.

Funds from this year’s ride will to help fund new treatments, including one that helps to eliminate tumor cells in the blood of patients with prostate cancer, and a clinical trial of a new radiotherapy treatment called Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR).

They’ll also help fund the Manitoba Prostate Cancer Support Group.

This year's ride raised more than $330,000, pushing the total money raised over the past seven years to more than $1.5 million.
