Man breaks into Thompson home, sexually assaults teen: RCMP

A 49-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly broke into the home of a teenage girl in Thompson and sexually assaulted her.

RCMP were called to a home at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a sexual assault.

Mounties allege the man, who was known to the victim, broke into her home while she was sleeping, and sexually assaulted her. Police said the teen was alone at the time.

When officers arrived at the home they learned the girl had been able to escape and ran to a nearby house.

Officers arrested the suspect who was still inside the victim’s home.

The suspect, who was not named by RCMP, was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, forcible confinement, invitation to sexual touching, and break and enter.

The charges have not been tested in court.
