Fire rips through vacant Windsor house

The second story of a vacant house has been destroyed following an overnight fire in west Windsor.

Firefighters were called out to 859 Assumption Street just before 3:00 a.m. Friday.

Officials say the blaze started on the back porch exterior. Damage is estimated at $70,000.

Flames were consuming more than half the house when crews arrived and the fire broke through the roof.

Windsor Disposal Service crews arrived later Friday to demolish the existing building.
