Police investigating late night Surrey shooting

Man injured in targeted shooting in Surrey One man is in hospital after a late-night shooting in Surrey's Cloverdale neighbourhood Tuesday night.

A late night shooting in Surrey on Tuesday sent one person to hospital.

According to the Surrey RCMP, officers responded to a report of gunshots on Richardson Drive near 85 Avenue and Greenway Drive at 10:44 p.m.

The RCMP say on arrival they found a man with apparent gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Mounties say when they arrived, the victim was inside the home, but they believe the shooting happened in the driveway.

Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha told CTV News the victim, whose injuries are non-life-threatening, is well known to them and is not co-operating.

Sangha says they believe this incident is related to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.

“The crime has no boundaries, wherever people involved in gang conflict, whichever neighbourhood they live in, the crime does follow them,” said Sangha.

“This individual lives in this neighbourhood and was the target of the shooting,” she continued.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were no arrests reported.

The RCMP says it’s conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses as the investigation begins. Police are now working to uncover the motive of the shooting.
