Mounties arrest 2 after indecent acts reported on Vancouver Island

Mounties on southern Vancouver Island say two men were arrested following separate reports of indecent acts on Tuesday.

The first case was reported at approximately 1:45 p.m., when a BC Transit supervisor called police to say a man was committing an indecent act on a city bus in the area of Jacklin and Dunford roads in Langford.

A statement Wednesday from the West Shore RCMP says a 38-year-old man was arrested for indecency, uttering threats against another passenger and failing to comply with the conditions of his probation.

The suspect was held in custody pending a scheduled court appearance on Wednesday.

Police responded to the second complaint about an indecent act at around 3:40 p.m. the same day.

A 67-year-old man was arrested in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Island Highway in Colwood. The suspect was released pending a scheduled court appearance, police said, but did not specify the date of the hearing.

“The complainants reported these incidents to police immediately, allowing our officers to act quickly and locate the suspects,” Cpl. Nancy Saggar said in the statement.

The West Shore RCMP says a third investigation into an indecent act is still underway after a male suspect allegedly exposed himself on the Galloping Goose trail near Happy Valley Road and Loma Linda Drive on May 15.

Investigators have been unable to locate the suspect in that case. He is described as a white man between 16 and 30 years old, standing 5’10” tall with a slim build. He has short black hair and was wearing black pants and a black raincoat with blue, white and teal vertical stripes, police said.

“We are very fortunate here on the West Shore to have such an extensive trail system used by so many residents every day,” Cpl. Chris Joy said in a statement last week. “Although these incidents are rare, they are unacceptable and will be fully investigated by the police.”
