Man charged with aggravated assault following attack in Penticton, B.C.

A 49-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault following an attack that left a 28-year-old man with serious injuries in Penticton, B.C.

Mounties were called to a restaurant in the 2400 block of Skaha Lake Road on Dec. 22, 2024, where the assault victim was found with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Several months passed without any update on the incident until Wednesday, when the RCMP announced that Shaun Richard Clauson had been charged.

Court records show Clauson was charged with one count of aggravated assault on May 14. He was released from police custody pending a scheduled appearance in the Penticton Law Courts on June 4.

“No further details will be released at this time,” the Southeast District RCMP said in a brief statement.

The victim sustained a brain injury and required surgery at a hospital in Kelowna, according to the fundraiser.
