TTC introduces 'service improvements' thanks to city council investment

The Toronto Transit Commission has begun a series of “service improvements” thanks to a $95-million investment by Toronto City Council.

In a statement released Sunday, the TTC said the changes are aimed at making public transit in the city “more convenient, faster, and less crowded.”

Here are some changes to public transit you can expect to see:

Increased service on some routes: The TTC said 37 bus routes around the city will have more frequent service thanks to the funding. Thirty of those routes will operate every day, all day, the statement said.

“Ten-minute-or-better” wait times: A total of 39 subway, streetcar and bus routes will have increased service, so that Torontonians will only have to wait 10 minutes or less to for transit. Additional routes are set to be added in October and November.

Expanded Blue Night services: In what is meant to be the largest expansion of TTC night services since the 1980s, the transit commission plans to introduce 12 more Blue Night buses and streetcars to the network. As a result, 99 per cent of Torontonians will live within a 15-minute walk of a night bus or streetcar, the TTC said.
