Mother of 3 found dead in Scarborough townhouse

CTV Toronto: Body found on Danzing Street Police investigate the possible connection between a homicide and a man who was hit by a train shutting down east-end rail service.

Police are investigating a homicide after a mother of three was found dead inside a Scarborough townhouse Friday afternoon.

The woman, who has not been identified, suffered "obvious signs of trauma," Det. Andy Singh told reporters at the scene. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police were called to the Scarborough address at 193 Danzig St. shortly after 4 p.m. The woman's body was found by her 14-year-old daughter.

Singh says investigators are looking at a possible connection with the woman's death and an incident where a man was struck by a westbound VIA train at approximately 4:40 p.m. Friday.

Police say the man's description matches the suspect's description, but have not confirmed if he is the same person.

"We are looking at that avenue," Singh said. "Unfortunately, right now, we don’t have any confirmation."

Police say the suspect appears to have been the woman’s ex-boyfriend, who was recently released on bail for domestic assault charges. He was asked not to contact his former girlfriend, but police say they’ve received information suggesting he was living with her. Police say this has not been confirmed.

Police say the man who was struck by the train suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. A Metrolinx spokesperson says he was struck near an overpass in the area of Markham Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

A police investigation of the incident temporarily suspended GO train service on the Lakeshore East line.
