Halton Police investigating after Burlington playground defaced with Nazi references

CTV Toronto: Nazi references at Burlington park Police in Burlington are investigating after Nazi references were spray painted on a local park.

Halton Regional Police are appealing to the public for information after graffiti referencing the Holocaust was spray-painted on a children’s playground and on school buses in Burlington.

According to police, a number of swastikas were spray-painted around Tansley Woods Park this weekend. Someone also scrawled “Aushwitz” on playground equipment –  an incorrectly spelled reference to the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp where more than a million people, mostly Jews, were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

School buses close to the park were also defaced and the graffiti was discovered by a bus driver who called police Sunday morning.

On Sunday evening, police urged anyone with information about the graffiti to contact Crime Stoppers.

In a tweet, the City of Burlington said the graffiti was being removed from Tansley Woods Park this evening.

“We apologize to those who had to see this,” the city said in another tweet.

“The end is near” and “My park” were also written on another building in the park.

Police say there is no suspect information so far.
