Autopsy to determine identity of human remains

BRACEBRIDGE, Ont. - An autopsy will be performed Tuesday in Toronto on human remains found in Muskoka -- the third grisly find in the past week.

An employee of a paving company found the remains on the shoulder of Stoneleigh Road, between Bracebridge and Baysville, on Friday, the OPP said in a release Sunday.

The coroner will try to determine if the remains are from the same person whose body parts were found in cottage country on May 22.

The first set of remains were found in the morning by a person walking in Oro-Medonte Township.

Later that afternoon, another person found remains in the Lake of Bays Township -- a two-hour drive north from the first crime scene.

Provincial police Const. Peter Leon said last week they had not been able to identify the person because some of the body parts were missing.

He said then that the "individual was dismembered, a very violent type of a death."

He also said whoever was responsible for the "homicide" likely wanted the remains to be found.
