It is the holiday season and you have just received a telephone call from friends or family, they're about 15 minutes away and they want to drop in for an unexpected visit, you're not ready, nor expecting anyone. What do you do? SAY YES!! Charles MacPherson has tips on how to prepare in a hurry.
Action: Open a window
Why: Allowing fresh air in the house.
Action: Light a candle
Why: Odours, atmosphere, etc.
Action: Grab an empty shopping bag, laundry basket or something and pick-up everything and throw into a closet.
Why: Get the clutter out of the way
Action: Turn off the television and put on a background CD.
Why: Ambiance, more social
Action: Pass the vacuum cleaner around the room.
Why: Makes the place look fresh and clean.
Action: Clean the guest bathroom, including emptying the garbage.
Why: Fresh and clean powder room.
Action: Close the window!
Action: Swiffer! (But only if you have time)

- Cheese and crackers
- Crudite and dip
- Holiday cards, emergency gifts i.e. candles, gift certificates, body moisturizer etc.
