Canadian women reach Cup final at Kitakyushu Sevens

KITAKYUSHU, Japan -- Canada will be playing in the Cup final at the Kitakyushu Sevens.
Bianca Farella scored two tries as the Canadian women beat the No. 2 United States 24-12 on Sunday in the Cup semifinal.
Canada will play No. 8 England later Sunday for first place. England downed No. 5 France 19-17 in the other semi.
Ghislaine Landry had a try and two conversions for Canada while Julia Greenshields added a fourth try.
Earlier Sunday, the Canadians beat No. 7 Russia 17-14 in the Cup quarterfinals to meet the Americans.
On Saturday, they dispatched No. 9 Spain, No. 11 China and No. 4 Australia in pool play.
Canada finished 11th in Kitakyushu last year, one of its worst performances on the circuit.
The Canadian women are third in the overall HSBC World Rugby Women's Seven Series standings.
