TORONTO -- All-rounder Abraash Khan of Mississauga, Ont., will captain Canada at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh later this month.

The 16 competing countries have been placed in four groups for the tournament that runs from Jan. 27 to Feb. 14 at eight venues in four Bangladesh cities.

The field includes nine Test-playing countries and seven associate and affiliate members: Canada, Afghanistan, Fiji, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal and Scotland.

Canada is Group B with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The Canadians qualified for the event by going undefeated in four matches at an Americas tournament that included the U.S. and Bermuda.

The top two teams in each group progress to the Super League stage, while the bottom two sides move on to the Plate Championship.

Canada was 15th at the 2014 U19 tournament, with Khan the lone holdover.

Canada opens play Jan. 28 against Sri Lanka before facing Pakistan on Jan. 30 and Afghanistan on Feb. 1.
