Everyone who looks after a child is going to understand the importance of a great stroller. They just make life so much easier — you can walk longer distances without worrying about your kid keeping up, and you can keep them out of trouble while you’re shopping… they’re essential, for sure. But not every stroller is created equal.
For parents who travel with their kids, a more portable stroller is a necessity. That’s why travel strollers exist! They are lighter and fold better than the average stroller, making them perfect for bringing with you on planes, trains, and automobiles. They still offer all of the same benefits as regular strollers too.
If you think a travel stroller is what you need, we’d love to help you pick the right one. There are a lot of options out there, and they’ll all differ in things like price, open dimensions, folded dimensions, harness type, weight capacity, and more. You should think about every feature to make sure you get the perfect match!
This comprehensive guide will investigate the best travel strollers in Canada right now and outline the criteria you should consider while making your purchase decision. Let’s dive right into our top five products.
Top Pick: Gb Pockit+ All-City 2-in-1 Travel System
Premium Pick: Bugaboo Butterfly 1-Second Fold Ultra-Compact Stroller
Plane Pick: BabyZen YOYO2 Stroller
Ultra-Lightweight Pick: Gb Pockit Air All-Terrain Ultra-Compact Lightweight Travel Stroller
Budget Pick: Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller
The Gb Pockit+ All-City 2-in-1 Travel System has a lot going for it. It’s one of the rare strollers that can be used with a car seat while your baby is young and then as a standard stroller once they’re old enough to sit up by themselves. This stroller is an amazing choice to see you through birth all the way to outgrowing toddlerhood.
The mesh back and large sun canopy do a lot to keep your child cool and protected on hot days, and it won’t make you work too hard either — it folds and unfolds with ease and is easy to push with one hand! Once it’s folded, it locks automatically, so you won’t have to remember that step every time you store it. Thank goodness.
One of the only things we don’t absolutely love is the storage bin. It’s shaped a bit awkwardly and isn’t very deep, so it won’t have the same capacity as some other options, even though it can hold the same amount of weight (11 lbs). Just something to keep in mind if you need a lot of gear during your travels or you plan to shop with it.
Overall, the Gb Pockit+ All-City 2-in-1 Travel System is an amazing option for parents who will be doing a lot of travelling in the city with their kids. It can be used for infants and toddlers, folds compactly for storage anywhere, and is really comfortable for youngsters. You can’t go wrong with this one!

Reviewers have a high opinion of the Gb Pockit+ All-City 2-in-1 Travel System. It’s so convenient that it can be used with car seats while their babies are little and then as a standard stroller once they’re big enough. The mesh back and sun canopy are very effective on hot days, and they have no problems with the weight or size. It moves easily with just one hand too, which they appreciate.

The Bugaboo Butterfly 1-Second Fold Ultra-Compact Stroller is packed with excellent features and is easily one of our favourite strollers of all time. It’s certainly the best option this year if you’re looking for premium quality and premium features. The seat is incredibly comfortable and sturdy, and it reclines almost fully to give your kid a perfect place to nap on the go. And it’s all covered by a top-tier canopy for sun protection.
This stroller also has one of the best folding mechanisms out there. It can be done with one hand and takes a literal second — could not be more convenient!! It folds compactly enough to store in the overhead bins on most planes and trains, too. And of course automobiles. We love the storage bin underneath too — it can be accessed from front and back and has a flexible opening…no fighting with your belongings!
The only thing we’d change about this stroller if we could is the price tag. Although we strongly believe that it’s more than worth the price considering the quality you get from it, it’s still one of the most expensive strollers on the market and simply won’t be an accessible option for everybody. And that’s disappointing because we’d love for everyone to experience its greatness for themselves.
Overall, the Bugaboo Butterfly 1-Second Fold Ultra-Compact Stroller is a pretty flawless choice. As long as you’re willing to pay for quality, you’ll be very happy with every feature. It's durable, comfortable, and built to go anywhere you need it to.

Reviewers have a very high opinion of the Bugaboo Butterfly 1-Second Fold Ultra-Compact Stroller. They’ve used it for all kinds of excursions — plane and train travel, shopping trips, amusement park adventures, etc., and the stroller is perfect for all of them. They love that they can access the large storage bin from front and back, and it’s the easiest thing to fold and unfold. They have no complaints with this one.

We like so many things about the BabyZen YOYO2 Stroller we aren’t even sure where to start. How about with the reason it's our plane pick? This stroller is narrow enough to navigate airplane aisles, and it also folds compactly enough to store in the overhead bin! You could not have a better companion for flights. Seriously. And those features help out in every other setting too!
The seat, handlebar, and carry strap are all very well padded to make sure everyone is comfortable for every step of the journey, and the canopy does a great job of blocking sunlight from vulnerable skin. It also has a large storage bin underneath to keep all of your things tucked away but still accessible. No matter where you’re going, you’ll want to bring this stroller along.
One of the only features that falls a little short of expectations is the weight capacity. Children over 48.5 lbs should not be using this stroller, and that means your kid will outgrow this one faster than other travel strollers. Hopefully, you’re starting young! Also, this stroller is fairly pricey, so it might not be a reasonable option for everybody.
All in all, the BabyZen YOYO2 Stroller is the absolute best option we can recommend for people who are travelling by air with a child. Even if it's just once. It really is worth it. It folds so easily, it’s comfortable to sit in or carry for long distances, and it has tons of storage space underneath the seat. Wins all around!

Reviewers have great things to say about the BabyZen YOYO2 Stroller. The bottom bin provides them with plenty of storage space, and the handlebar and seat are both very nicely cushioned. The canopy is great at keeping their kids protected from the sun, and they could not be happier with how easily it folds down. It fits perfectly in the overhead bins on airplanes too!

We like a lot of things about the Gb Pockit Air All-Terrain Ultra-Compact Lightweight Travel Stroller. Its double-wheel design makes it sturdy and maneuverable, even on surfaces like cobblestone and gravel, and the 5-point harness keeps your child nice and secure. It even has a mesh back to help them maintain a cooler temperature on hot days.
We’re also big fans of the folding mechanism on this one. It can easily be stored in your trunk without taking up all of the space, and since it’s lightweight (just over 10 lbs), you won’t have any trouble carrying it around when you need to. It’s also fairly accommodating since it is tall in the back and can support a weight of 55 lbs. This thing will go the distance with your family.
One of the only issues we have with this stroller is the height. Strollers are already not very friendly to tall parents, and this one is shorter than average — if you’re above 5’6”, you might not have the most comfortable time with this one. Also, the storage space is fairly limited, so you won’t be able to do a full shop or cart around a bunch of souvenirs with it.
Overall, the Gb Pockit Air All-Terrain Ultra-Compact Lightweight Travel Stroller is the best choice for parents who want the lightest possible stroller for their travels. With its compact folding system and sturdy wheels, it’s the perfect companion for every adventure.

Reviewers have a great opinion of the Gb Pockit Air All-Terrain Ultra-Compact Lightweight Travel Stroller. They absolutely love how compact it is when folded, and they have no problem carrying it or pushing it over long distances. The mesh back is a great addition for summer adventures, and the wheels move well on all surfaces. They have very few complaints — mainly just that the short handlebars are an issue for tall parents!

The Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller is surprisingly well-rounded for such an affordable stroller. It’s made of a durable and easy-to-clean material, and the aluminum frame keeps the weight low and easy to manage. It can cart around kids up to 50 lbs in weight, and with the dual-tire design at each of the four wheels, it won’t get stuck on rough/uneven terrain like single tires can.
Since the child seat can recline to four different positions, this is a great option if you’ll be doing diaper changes on the fly or your kid will be napping in it regularly. A 5-point harness keeps them secure at all times. And it’s got thoughtful additions for parents too! A large storage bin for baby gear, a cup holder, and a small storage bag for personal items keeps everything handy and accessible!
Unfortunately, there are a few features that we don’t quite love with this one. Its versatility really goes down if you’re using it for older toddlers — it isn’t large enough to let them use the recline settings comfortably. It also stays pretty tall when you fold it, so it isn’t the best for storing in compact spaces. And you might also run into some durability issues down the line. Not ideal, we know.
Overall, the Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller is a pretty perfect option for folks who don’t want to spend a lot on a travel stroller. It isn’t perfect, but for the price, you won’t find much better in terms of storage space and comfort for your kid.

Reviewers have mostly good things to say about the Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller. Some of them find the durability is a bit worse than they’d expected, and it isn’t quite large enough for older toddlers to lay down comfortably. It’s perfect for younger children, though, and they really like how much storage space it has. It’s light and folds easily, too. Much better than other strollers they’ve used.

You want your kid to sleep easily in the stroller
You’ll be moving the stroller over rough terrain often
You like to bring a lot of gear with you
You want somewhere handy to put your essentials

Some travel strollers can be purchased for $130 or less, while others can cost upwards of $700. In general, more expensive travel strollers will be made of higher-quality materials, be more durable, have more advanced folding mechanisms, and have a higher weight capacity.
The weight capacity of a travel stroller is a very important thing to pay attention to since it will support your child. Generally, the weight capacity will fall between 50 and 55 lbs for single-seat models, but it can be as low as 48 lbs. Make sure you pay attention to this if you’ll be using the stroller well into toddlerhood.
When it comes to travel strollers, portability is everything. It’s literally the whole point of getting a travel stroller. To make sure it fits your needs, you’ll want to pay attention to its weight, its folded size (some remain quite tall and bulky, others fold flat enough to fit in airplane storage bins), and any straps/bags that are included.
The only type of harness you should be looking for is a 5-point. And since most strollers use this type of harness (and certainly all of the ones on our top five list do), it shouldn’t be a difficult thing to find along with your must-haves. But it isn’t a guarantee, so just double-check before you buy.
Almost every travel stroller will include a storage bin and a sun canopy for convenience, but some also have cup holders, travel bags, additional storage pockets on the handlebar, and more. If you want all of the convenience and luxury you can possibly get, feel free to prioritize these extras. We sure would.
