With all the new air fryers, pressure cookers, and toaster ovens on the market, it’s hard to know what kitchen appliance to invest in. As somebody who loves to cook, but also has limited counter space, bulky machines with a single function can be impractical and border on burdensome.
The Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven takes productivity to the next level, combining seven different settings into a mini convection oven from one of the trendiest, most trusted names in kitchen appliances today.
Right out of the box, the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven couldn’t have been easier to use. The instruction manual is pretty small for a reference document, but set-up is as simple as plugging it in and giving the oven a quick test cycle before you get cooking. It comes with a feature recipe card for sweet chilli chicken wings and refers you to the Instant Connect mobile app to access over 2,000 recipes.
Having used a few different air fryers, convection toaster ovens, and dehydrators in the past, I was prepared for a bit of noise when the machine was in use, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it extremely quiet. I started out by using the roast and rotisserie functions together, to make a rotisserie roast beef and roasted potatoes. The rotisserie was easy to secure to roast with the rotisserie forks, and I loved how flavourful and crispy the potatoes turned out from roasting them simultaneously in the drip tray below. Being able to cook them together saved a lot of time, and because the rotisserie is self-basting, I didn’t need to sear the roast beforehand to get a crispy browned outer layer. I set the oven to roast at 380℉ and estimated the cooking time based on weight. I expected it to take about 45 minutes, but my meat thermometer let me know it was a juicy medium rare in just under 30 minutes.
For dessert, I used the Instant Connect app’s recipe for dark chocolate flourless cake. The cake itself only had four ingredients (six if you want whipped cream), and the app walked me through the recipe with simple, step-by-step instructions. The cooking time was listed as 40 minutes, but I took it out after 35 when the edges had browned and gently pulled away from the sides of the pan. The result was a super fluffy and subtle dark chocolate cake, with a sophisticated souffle-like texture that your guests would definitely believe was a lot harder to make than it was.
When it was time to clean up, the dishwasher-safe cooking trays and drip pan were wiped clean with minimal effort. The next day, I had a delicious evenly-heated lunch ready in 10 minutes with the reheat function.
This 7-in-1 air fryer oven is a great solution for decluttering your countertops by combining multiple single-function appliances into one powerful machine. I was really impressed with how quickly and effortlessly I was able to cook three different recipes, and wiping everything down afterwards could barely be considered a chore. I could see this air fryer oven being a game changer as a second oven when entertaining a large group, or even replacing my oven as my day-to-day cooking appliance.
