How many blender-reliant dishes can you think of? Here’s what we’ve got: pasta sauces, dips, soups, pesto, smoothies, hummus, salad dressing, mayonnaise…the list could go on and on! And you don’t need a massive blender for these things either. Nope! But you know what you do need? An immersion blender!
Not only are immersion blenders much smaller and easier to use than traditional hand blenders, but they’re also incredibly versatile. You can use them to create pretty much any dish, and they’re easy to clean afterward. Many of them come with additional accessories so you can do all of your blending, whisking, and chopping with a single tool!
If you think an immersion blender would make an excellent addition to your kitchen collection, we’re here to help. Immersion blenders will vary in things like price, overall size, power type, ease of handling, number of speeds, and even included attachments. And to find the perfect fit, you’ll have to think about each and every one of those things.
This comprehensive guide will investigate the best immersion blenders in Canada right now and outline the criteria you should consider while making your purchase decision. Let’s dive right into our top five products.
Top Pick: KitchenAid KHBV53ER Variable-Speed Corded Hand Blender
Upgrade Pick: Braun MultiQuick 5 Vario Immersion Hand Blender
Budget Pick: Bonsenkitchen Immersion Blender
Efficient Alternative: Breville BSB510XL Control Grip Immersion Blender
Well-Rounded Alternative: Cuisinart CSB-85C SmartStick 2-Speed Hand Blender
The KitchenAid KHBV53ER Variable-Speed Corded Hand Blender has a ton of features working in its favour (and yours). It comes in 10 vibrant colours and has great performance backing it up, too. That’s all thanks to the variable-speed trigger that lets you adjust the speed on the fly as your mixture changes. It just might take a little practice to get things right.
The blender arm is dishwasher-safe, which we absolutely love for you. No hand-washing needed with this one! Thank goodness. We’re also really pleased that it comes with a pan guard — it’s a little accessory that will protect your cookware while you blend ingredients in it! You won’t need any mixing bowls around to prep dishes that need to be cooked (or have already been cooked and need to be blended as step two). Isn’t that nice?
The only thing that’s really missing from this blender is an attachment set. Lots of immersion blenders come with a whisk attachment and a chopper attachment, but this one doesn’t. You’ll end up sacrificing a little bit of versatility if you choose to go with this one.
All in all, the KitchenAid KHBV53ER Variable-Speed Corded Hand Blender is a really great choice for pretty much every kitchen. It doesn’t come with the attachments that are included with a bunch of other options, but it really does stand out all by itself. Happy blending!

Reviewers have very positive things to say about the KitchenAid KHBV53ER Variable-Speed Corded Hand Blender. The pan guard is a great addition for people who prefer not to create extra dishes for themselves.

The Braun MultiQuick 5 Vario Immersion Hand Blender has everything you could possibly ask for. Seriously. It comes with attachments (a whisk and a chopper) and a high-quality beaker to help you measure and mix all of your dishes. It also has a whopping 21 speeds plus a turbo button — you don’t see that every day. Precision and versatility are the name of the game with this blender.
We’re also really happy with the durability of this entire set. The motor is designed to last for years, even if you use it a lot (plus you’ve got a three-year warranty backing you up!). Each attachment is super durable too. And easy to clean. And last but not least, we need to talk about the splash guard. The bell-shaped design of the blender is also equipped with SplashGuard technology to keep your kitchen clean.
We’re sure it doesn’t surprise you that our upgrade pick isn’t going to come with many problems. Or any, for that matter. There is one thing that might make you hesitate, though, and that’s the price tag. It’s six times more expensive than the most affordable immersion blenders out there. While that’s (admittedly) daunting, you really do get what you pay for with this one. Trust us.
All in all, the Braun MultiQuick 5 Vario Immersion Hand Blender is one of our favourite immersion blenders of all time. They really don’t get much better than this one. No matter what you plan to make with it, you’ll be very happy you spend the extra money on this superb option.

Budget picks aren’t always the most appealing option in a top-five list, but we’re here to surprise you with the Bonsenkitchen Immersion Blender. It’s one of the most affordable immersion blenders that still comes with attachments, and it even beats some other more expensive blenders in a number of areas. Its attachments include a whisk and chopper, and you’ll also get a beaker for measuring and mixing!
This thing has 20-speed settings, which is basically unheard of and greatly improves its blending precision and versatility, but it also has a turbo button! That’s an even rarer find and can make your smoothie mixing a whole lot faster. It’s a pretty quiet unit, too, so this is still a great option even if you struggle to cope with excess noise.
One of the only problems you’ll run into with this option is the fact that none of the attachments are safe to go in the dishwasher. You’ll have to clean everything by hand, and it can be a bit tricky when there are tight corners. It’s not ideal, we know, but it’s a small price to pay for a reliable, versatile, and affordable immersion blender. Wouldn’t you agree?
Overall, the Bonsenkitchen Immersion Blender is the best option if you want to save money without sacrificing versatility. It’s got a great lifespan, high-quality attachments, and extremely reliable performance. Plus an unbeatable price.

Reviewers have a great opinion of the Bonsenkitchen Immersion Blender. It’s surprisingly durable for the price, and the blending performance is incredibly reliable. They appreciate how precise they can be with the blending speed, and the turbo button really helps out with ice and thicker mixtures. It’s pretty quiet while it’s running, too.

The Breville BSB510XL Control Grip Immersion Blender is a good one, folks. A great one, in fact. It has an ultra-comfortable grip and a trigger style to make blending more comfortable, and with 15 speed settings, you’ll have all the precision you need to achieve perfection in the kitchen. You’ll also get a large jug, a whisk attachment, and a chopper attachment to improve the versatility of your blender.
One of our favourite features by far is the design of the blender cap. It has a bell-shaped base with internal ribbing, and these two things combined create the ideal anti-suction blender — you’ll notice a much smoother and more efficient blending process as a result. This base is also designed to be anti-scratch, so it’s safe to use directly in your pots and vulnerable mixing bowls.
The only potential concern you may have with this one is the price. It’s one of the more expensive immersion blenders out there, and we can’t blame you if you don’t want to spend a lot. Especially if it’s your first one. But if you know that you’ll be using it a lot and you want top-tier performance, it really is worth the extra cost.
All in all, the Breville BSB510XL Control Grip Immersion Blender is one of our all-time faves. And it was certainly a no-brainer for our top five list this year. No matter what you plan to use it for, it’s got the power and versatility you need to get the job done right.

It’s the easiest to use of all the immersion blenders they’ve tried in the past, and with 15 speed settings, they’re able to choose the perfect setting for each ingredient/mixture. The attachments and jug are all really high quality as well. They’re all very happy with their purchase.

We like a lot of the features offered by the Cuisinart CSB-85C SmartStick 2-Speed Hand Blender. Evidently, it has two speeds, and that means you’ll be able to work effectively with soft ingredients and tougher ingredients without ruining them (or the blender). Since it comes with whisk and grinder/chopper attachments, you’ll be able to do all of your prep with a single tool. Fun, right?
This blender is also really easy to keep clean. The wand can go in the dishwasher on the top rack, and the other components wipe clean quickly with some soapy water and a cloth. The power cord also won’t be as much of a burden as you think — it measures five feet in length and is perfect for every kitchen. The 3-year warranty gives us a lot of confidence in its longevity, too.
Of course, there are going to be a few things that don’t quite meet the standards set by the rest of the features. To use this blender, you need to hold down two buttons at once. And since they aren’t the easiest things to press, it can be hard on the hands. The two speed settings also won’t offer enough versatility for the precise blending of tricky ingredients. The third potential problem is the price — it could definitely be cheaper.
All in all, the Cuisinart CSB-85C SmartStick 2-Speed Hand Blender has a lot going for it. It isn’t perfect, but if you’re willing to overlook its flaws, you’ll have a great time blending, whisking, grinding, and chopping all of your favourite ingredients for your favourite dishes.

Reviewers have mostly good things to say about the Cuisinart CSB-85C SmartStick 2-Speed Hand Blender. Some of them find it quite tricky to hold down the safety button and power button at the same time, but that’s the main complaint. Each attachment works very well and they clean easily too. The power cord length is also a perfect length for staying comfortable while blending.

Immersion blenders will typically range in price from $20 to $150-$200. Most people won’t need to spend more than $80-$125 for a really great model, though. In general, more expensive immersion blenders will offer more speeds and a turbo button, higher-quality mixing performance, and a range of attachments to maximize versatility.
Immersion blenders can vary a lot if you’re judging them by the number of speeds they have. Some are very basic and only have one or two speed settings, others can have 20+ and a turbo button. Price generally goes up as the number of speeds goes up, but you’ll get a lot more precision and versatility in return.
Most immersion blenders will come with extra attachments in addition to the blending arm. The most common additions are a whisk attachment and a chopper attachment. They’ll let you do a lot more with your blender, so we always recommend looking for an immersion blender that has both.
Believe it or not, accessories are not the same as attachments! But most immersion blenders still offer some accessories as well. The most common one you’ll see is a beaker/measuring cup, but pan guards and other accessories also exist. It’s up to you which ones you want to prioritize, if any.
Immersion blenders can run on corded power, or they can operate as cordless machines. Corded models are more common by far, but if you really don’t want to deal with the hassle of a trailing cord, or you need a blender that can run anywhere (like on a camping trip), a cordless model is a worthwhile option to consider.
Ease of handling is a trickier thing to determine when it comes to immersion blenders, but it’s no less important than any of the other features. You’ll have to consider the weight and balance of the blender as well as the button/trigger setup. Some people prefer holding buttons down, while others prefer a trigger setup. It’s up to you!
