Humidifiers are the number one way to add moisture to your home. They are very easy to use (no confusing manuals or complicated build instructions here!), helpful for every room size, and offer many other great benefits for you and your house.
If you’ve decided that a humidifier is right for you, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind. They’ll vary in runtime, capacity, mist temperature, and more.
This comprehensive guide will investigate the best humidifiers in Canada right now and outline the criteria you should consider while making your purchase decision. Let’s dive right into our top five products.
Top Pick: Levoit 4L Classic200 Humidifier
Upgrade Pick: Levoit OasisMist Smart Humidifier
Budget Pick: Honeywell HUL520BC MistMate Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
Runner-Up: Dreo HM311S 4L Smart Humidifier
Kids Pick : Crane EE-5306W Ultrasonic Humidifier
With a four-litre water tank, three different mist levels, and an automatic shutoff feature, the Levoit 4L Classic200 Humidifier has all the things it needs to get the job done. You’ll see the proof of this when it raises your humidity by 10% in only 20 minutes. Pretty impressive, right?
This model is very quiet, so it’s a great choice if you want to keep your bedroom air quality going strong while you’re asleep and vulnerable to a stuffy nose and irritated throat. The one-button design makes it super easy to use, and we love that it doubles as a diffuser. Our favourite features, though, are the top-fill design and the handle—you just can’t beat that kind of convenience.
There is one minor issue, though. The diffuser isn’t the most effective thing on the planet, so you won’t be able to enjoy your essential oils for very long. As long as this isn’t a priority feature for you, you’ll love this humidifier.

Reviewers have a very high opinion of the Levoit 4L Classic200 Humidifier. It’s lightweight and so quiet that it doesn’t interfere with sleep or daily life. People aren’t thrilled with the quality of the diffuser, but as a humidifier, it’s pretty much flawless. The capacity is perfect for overnight and full days.

When we look for a product to snag our upgrade pick title, we look for one exactly like the Levoit OasisMist Smart Humidifier. It goes above and beyond what you’d expect of a humidifier.
Its VortexMist technology only needs 15 minutes to dramatically change the way the air feels in your home. And that’s just the beginning! It’s compatible with Alexa and has a companion app for setting schedules, monitoring the humidity level, and making adjustments to the settings. Plus, the auto mode and built-in humidistat let you set it and forget it. It can also be used as a diffuser to keep your home smelling beautiful, and the top-fill system eliminates the awkward (and impossible) upside-down balancing act we all hate. Plus, you can have cool or warm mist depending on the season.
In all honesty, the only bad thing about this humidifier is the price. It’s significantly higher than other humidifiers out there. But considering how smart it is, how easy it is to fill and clean, and all of the other wonderful advantages, it’s definitely worth it.

Weight: 5.3 lbs

Despite the friendlier price tag on the Honeywell HUL520BC MistMate Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier, you won’t have to worry about this one failing at its job. It’s got all of the necessary features—an automatic shutoff when the water runs out, a space-saving shape, etc.—and it brings a ton of bonus features to the table (or desk, or floor) as well.
The standout feature by far is the wide tank opening. Not only does this make it easier to fully empty, but cleaning is a breeze too. The handle helps support the tank while you’re filling and cleaning—no more awkward fumbling or drop scares. The transparent tank takes all the guesswork (and footwork) out of monitoring your water level, and the filter-free design keeps maintenance to a minimum. And, it’s whisper-quiet.
Of course, no budget-friendly humidifier is going to be perfect. The smaller tank on this one does limit how long it can run without your intervention, and the build quality is also a concern. It’ll leak very easily when tilted, so you’ll want to top up the tank as close to its resting place as possible. Or keep a towel handy for cleaning up the spills.

Reviewers are enjoying their Honeywell HUL520BC MistMate Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifiers. Most people got it for single-room use, and they’ve found it very effective at improving their dry throats and noses. The automatic shutoff is a much-loved addition, and many people commented on how much easier it is to empty and clean than other humidifiers they’ve used in the past.

The Dreo HM311S 4L Smart Humidifier has more to offer than you’d expect at first glance. Although the minimalist design is a great bonus! One of our favourite features is the mist outlet design. It has three mist levels to suit your needs, but at full performance, the mist column is four inches wide and forty inches tall — talk about efficient humidifying! You won’t have to wait long for relief.
The connected features are also super useful. You can talk to the humidifier with your voice assistant or use the companion app to set schedules, change settings, and more. The top-fill design means you won’t have to do any awkward flipping or risk any water spilling, and we love that for you. It even has an aromatherapy tray so you can enjoy even more benefits from its misting.
One of the only things you might not love about this one is the price tag. There are plenty of more affordable options out there, and if you’re shopping on a tight budget, they might be a better fit. Its 300-square-foot coverage area might also be a concern if you need it for a large open space — it might struggle to keep up if the humidity is really low.
All in all, the Dreo HM311S 4L Smart Humidifier is one of our favourites of all time. No matter what features you’re prioritizing or where you plan to set it up, this humidifier will outperform your expectations. You’ll never want to use another humidifier again.

The companion app makes it easy to set schedules and change humidity settings, and the top-fill design means refills aren’t messy or complicated. The aromatherapy tray is easy to use, and the humidifier looks great in every space. They highly recommend this one.

In our humble opinion, the Crane EE-5306W Ultrasonic Humidifier is the absolute best choice for kids' rooms. Whether it’s a bedroom, playroom, or other space, the safety of the cool mist, the optional night light, and the sound machine are all features that kids will appreciate (and so will parents). Since the humidifier is very light when empty, you can easily move it from room to room during the day, too.
We’re also really happy with how quiet this humidifier is. Whether your kids are sleeping overnight, catching a quick nap, or playing with their toys, the humidifier won’t become a disruption. The adjustability of the mist is also something to admire. It has a 360º nozzle and three mist levels to make sure you’re getting the coverage you need in every space.
Unfortunately, we do also have to mention the things you might not love about this one. Its capacity isn’t as large as other options, so you’ll need to be on top of filling it up every 24 hrs for reliable relief. It doesn’t offer any smart features, and it also doesn’t have the best longevity on the market. Hopefully, none of those things are dealbreakers, because this humidifier is pretty great overall.
All in all, the Crane EE-5306W Ultrasonic Humidifier is our top recommendation for kid-specific rooms. With a respectable capacity, multiple kid-friendly features, and tons of adjustability, this humidifier will fit well into any space.

They love being able to direct the mist in any direction, and the adjustable output is working for everyone. The night light and sound machine make it perfect for nurseries and kids' rooms, too.

Most humidifiers will be priced below $75, and even the lowest end of the market will be effective at evening out the humidity in your home. More expensive models can cost more than double that, but they’ll offer more features and usability, including voice activation, companion apps, and different mist temperatures.
The vast majority of humidifiers will put out cool mist, and this is especially comforting during the warmer months of the year. However, some homes will need a warm mist in order to effectively raise the humidity in a cold environment. Make sure you know what your space needs before you commit to a humidifier, or purchase one that offers both temperatures.
In general, humidifiers will have a water capacity between 1.5 litres and 6 litres. Obviously, a humidifier with a larger capacity will be able to run for a longer period of time between refills, which is very convenient for people who don’t want to pay a lot of attention to their machines. However, the price usually goes up respective to the tank size.
A humidifier’s runtime per fill will be related to the size of the water tank and the rate at which it produces mist. Some humidifiers are more efficient and can produce a longer runtime on a smaller tank, and while this is great for correcting small fluctuations in humidity, sometimes you’ll need a shorter run time in favour of a faster humidity correction.
Almost every humidifier will offer at least two different levels for mist output. Lower settings are useful for maintaining humidity levels, and higher settings help add moisture quickly to exceptionally dry air. If you don’t have major changes, two or three settings will be enough, but more dynamic environments would benefit from more (or an adjustable dial).
Automatic shutoff is a safety feature that pretty much every humidifier has, but it’s a good thing to check before you buy. This feature shuts off the mist when the water gets low, and this helps protect it from damage.
