I take great pride in my skincare routine; skincare is one of my favourite things to shop for, and I’m always on the lookout for new heroes to add to my routine. While I tend to shuffle products in and out (it is my job to test things out for you), I’m pretty dedicated to one body lotion: the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. It smells like a vacation, and it leaves my skin feeling softer, smoother, and better than ever.
One thing I’m not head-over-heels for? The $65 price tag. Sure, I get great value, but I go through tubs pretty quickly—and honestly, my credit card isn’t thrilled about it. So when I saw the Nutrius Brazilian Body Butter Cream hit the market, I was more than a little intrigued. The packaging? Similar. And the price? Under $25! Sold.
Now, let’s talk details. The key ingredients are capuacu butter, coconut butter, acai oil, and guarana extract. These moisturizing powerhouses give it that rich, creamy texture and pack a hydrating punch, deeply nourishing your skin with every application. You also don’t have to worry about any chemical nasties; the formula is vegan-friendly, phthalate-free, gluten-free, paraben-free, and mineral oil-free.
Capuacu Butter: Improves skin elasticity and hydration
Coconut Oil: Ultra-moisturizing, leaves skin feeling soft and supple
Acai Oil: Adds radiance and protects skin from environmental stressors
Guarana Extract: Energizes, revitalizes, and firms the skin
As I expected, it has a warm, gourmand scent, but it leans more floral. It’s a bit different than the Cheirosa 62 fragrance from Sol de Janeiro, which smells like salted caramel, pistachio, and vanilla, but has a comparable profile. You definitely still get those sweet, vacation-y vibes with both options.
Top Notes: Coconut, acai, and peach
Middle Notes: Jasmine, lily of the valley, and honey
Base notes: rich musk, cedarwood, and vanilla.
The packaging is on par with its luxury counterpart, too. It comes in a tub, with a wide opening that makes it easy to scoop out product and a twist-on lid.
If you find yourself falling in love with this formula, there are two other scents you may want to add to your collection:
All in all, the Brazilian Body Butter Cream from Nutrius is an excellent budget-friendly lotion that’ll transform your dry skin and smell amazing doing it. It's super rich, but sinks into the skin quickly, giving you maximum hydration without any greasy residue.
Reviewers are big fans of the Nutrius Brazilian Body Butter Cream. It has an average rating of 4.3 stars on Amazon Canada, and people love how moisturizing it is without feeling oily. They’re also big fans of the scent; some say the fragrance isn’t as close to the Sol de Janeiro perfume as they’d like, but agree that it’s just as good in its own right.
