U18 provincials curling tournament underway in PA WATCH: Teams from across Saskatchewan are in Prince Albert for U18 curling provincials.

Teams from across Saskatchewan are in Prince Albert for the U18 curling provincials.

The provincial curling tournament began on Friday and will continue until Dec. 30 at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Centre

Tyler Harrison, co-chair of the host committee, says they try to host at least one event a year.

"I think it's going to be a great event here at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Center,” Harrison said.

“Anyone wants to come on and take a walk or come watch? It'll be great. I'll be curling all weekend long until Monday, and by then we'll know who wins. "

Nine girls' teams and six boys' teams compete for spots at the 2025 national competition, scheduled for February in Saskatoon at the Nutana Curling Club.

Twenty-one male and female teams will compete at the national level.

"Just the atmosphere and being able to play for a green jacket. It's such an honor. And, Yeah, just excited to be here," third for Team Simpson Leah Beausoleil said.

The teams in Prince Albert this weekend will battle it out to represent Saskatchewan in their home province.

"Provincials is, like the best tournament, honestly. So, it's just hopefully we get to those important games, and those are the ones that you really look for," skip of Team Simpson Shawna Simpson said.

The first game took place Friday afternoon, followed by the tournament's opening ceremonies.
