Saskatoon motorcycle racer, 13, invited to prestigious world event

Young motorcyclist invited to international race Milan Jablan, a 13-year-old motorcycle racer was recently the only Canadian invited to the Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup next month.

Milan Jablan could ride a motorcycle before he could ride a pedal bike.

The 13-year-old Saskatoon boy has been riding since he was just three years old. He’s won dirt bike titles, two Canadian street racing championships and he even holds a title in the U.S. He’s hoping a trip to Europe next month will add a European championship to his list of accolades.

“I'm hoping that I will just do well and have a good time doing it,” Jablan said.

Jablan was recently the only Canadian selected to race in the prestigious Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup next month. The tournament welcomes 18 of the top racers from around the world as they compete in eight events across five different countries.

“I was just really excited that they accepted me,” Jablan said.

The winner and runner-up of the tournament will be invited to compete in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, which helps young riders step into the professional circuit.

Only a handful of Canadians have ever been invited to the Red Bull selection event. Jablan’s dream is to race on the world stage. He’s loved racing since the day he first rode a motorcycle.

“I thought it was one of the greatest things in the world and I just kept doing it,” he said. “The adrenaline rush is really great and just to be going at that speed is really fun.”

Riders from 10 different countries will compete in the Moriwaki Cup. Races will take Jablan, travelling alongside his father, across Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
