Garbage pickup back to normal next week

Back alleys in Saskatoon are still too much for garbage trucks, so the city is offering free admission to the city landfill for those who don't want to do front lane garbage pick up.

Garbage pickup is returning to normal.

The city shut down the back lane service in March because snow and hard ruts made it difficult for city trucks to navigate the alleys. Residents were first forced to move their bins to their front yards, and in some areas they had to take them all the way to a drop-off point once a week for pickup.

With the warm weather finally here to stay in Saskatoon, the snow has melted and the alleys are dry enough for garbage trucks to get through.

Back lane pickup will begin next week.
