TORONTO - Toronto is getting amplified as members of '80s hair bands descend on the city for the red-carpet opening of the hit musical "Rock of Ages."
Mirvish Productions says tonight's guest list includes scores of acts, including Twisted Sister guitarist J.J. French, Jim Peterik of Survivor and Poison drummer Rikki Rocket.
Also expected at the Royal Alexandra Theatre are members of Foreigner, Triumph, Prairie Oyster, Glass Tiger, Blue Rodeo, Parachute Club, Sloan, Platinum Blonde, Rough Trade and Anvil.
Mirvish has also invited former "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis, who starred in the Broadway production of "Rock of Ages" that earned five Tony Award nominations.
Maroulis is also slated to perform in the after-party along with several other acts.
The Toronto production of "Rock of Ages" stars Surrey, B.C., native Elicia MacKenzie and Yvan Pedneault, who hails from Sept-Iles, Que.
MacKenzie, 24, plays Sherrie, an aspiring actress who moves from Kansas to Los Angeles to make it in show business.
Pedneault plays her love interest, Drew, a young rock singer who works at a rock club on the Sunset Strip.
