Jess Moskaluke wins female artist of the year at CCMAs

Jess Moskeluke probably won’t be drinking cheap wine for much longer. The Saskatchewan singer-songwriter picked up some hardware Sunday night at the Canadian Country Music awards for female artist of the year for the second year in a row.

Moskeluke’s latest release, Cheap Wine and Cigarettes, was also nominated for album of the year. The 25-year-old is set to release her latest EP, Kiss Me Quiet, later this month.

Accepting her award, Moskaluke said, "I cannot believe that this happened," adding, "You have no idea how much this means to me as a girl from small town Saskatchewan."

The Langenburg native beat out Canadian country veterans Terri Clark and Beverley Mahood for the top spot.

The night’s other big winner was Gord Bamford, who took home awards for Male Artist of the year and single of the year for his song, Where a Farm Used to Be.
