Member of Parliament and former cabinet minister Ed Fast has suffered a stroke, but is in stable condition, his office said Tuesday.
Fast suffered a stroke in his home in Abbotsford, B.C. on Saturday, his office wrote in an emailed statement. He is expected to make a full recovery.
“During this period of rehabilitation, the Fast family kindly requests privacy to ensure MP Fast can focus on his recovery and return to his parliamentary duties as soon as possible,” the statement said.
Fast is the MP for Abbotsford. A Conservative, he was trade minister in former prime minister Stephen Harper’s cabinet from 2011 to 2015.
