Google has charted which federal party leader was most often typed into its search engine in all of Canada’s 338 ridings during July.

Conservative Stephen Harper was the most sought, with 56.8 per cent of the total, followed by Liberal Justin Trudeau (31.1 per cent) and NDP leader Thomas Mulcair (7.8 per cent).

All three of the major party leaders can claim the title of most-searched in at least one riding in all of the major regions of the country.

Harper and Trudeau, however, can claim the most searches in Canada’s biggest cities.

Harper generated the most searches in Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton and Calgary-area ridings. Trudeau was most-searched in Vancouver and Winnipeg. The Toronto area, meanwhile, was split between the two.

Green Leader Elizabeth May was most-searched in her own B.C. riding of Saanich—Gulf Islands, along with the P.E.I. riding of Cardigan and the eastern Ontario ridings of Lanark—Frotenac—Kingston and Kanata-Carleton.

Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe was most-searched not only in a handful of Quebec ridings, but also in the B.C. riding of North Okanagan—Shuswap and the northern Ontario ridings of Nipissing—Timiskaming and Timmins—James Bay.
