FREDERICTON -- A former Liberal member of the New Brunswick legislature is running for the People's Alliance in the province's Sept. 22 election.

LeRoy Armstrong says he believes the province needs a change from the former Liberal and Progressive Conservative governments.

He says the needs of rural New Brunswickers in particular have been neglected.

Armstrong was elected to the former riding of Kings East in 1995 and again in 2003 as a Liberal.

He will run for the People's Alliance in the riding of Sussex-Fundy-St. Martins.

The riding was held by Bruce Northrup, the minister of public safety, when the legislature dissolved.
