Police continue to search for Brandon Crisp, the teenager who has been missing since he left his home in Barrie, Ont., on Oct. 13, after arguing with his parents over a video game.

On Saturday, Barrie police canvassed the Oro-Medonte Rail Trail where the 15-year-old was last seen nearly three weeks ago.

Sgt. Dave Goodbrand told CTV.ca that police stopped hundreds of cars and talked to people using a part of the trail near 3rd Line between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

The purpose was to talk to cottagers and other people who may have been in the area the day Brandon disappeared, he said.

"We know that some of the traffic that comes up into the area on the weekends can be weekend traffic," he said.

"We thought that we would target people that potentially use that path only on weekends and may have been out on Oct. 13 and maybe have seen something that they don't realize is significant to our investigation."

Goodbrand characterized the day as "successful," saying police received "a couple dozen" tips from the people they spoke to, though it is not clear whether those tips will be useful for the investigation.

There are no further canvasses or searches planned for Sunday, but police "still have a full investigative team assigned to this that's working on this continuously," he said.

Crisp went missing on Thanksgiving after he got into an argument with his parents about his constant Xbox video-game playing.

He left the house and has not been heard from since.

Police want to establish a timeline of Brandon's activities from when he left his parents' house around 3 p.m. and when he reportedly was on the rail trail somewhere between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. that same day, Goodbrand said.

Brandon's parents believe he has likely sought out contacts he made playing online Xbox games and that he might be staying in the United States.

His father Steve Crisp told CTV Newsnet on Friday that "99 per cent" of Brandon's online Xbox contacts were video-game players from the Untied States.

Brandon is described as male, white, 100 pounds, 5'2", with short sandy-blond hair.

He was last seen wearing jeans and a yellow and grey jacket, a grey American Eagle hoodie, as well as white running shoes with a camouflage stripe on the side.

He may also be carrying a backpack that is also yellow and grey in colour.
