Driver charged with impaired driving after crash that killed man, left teen son seriously injured

A driver is facing impaired charges after a head-on crash between an SUV and a motorcycle left a man dead and his 14-year-old son seriously injured Saturday afternoon near Cornwall.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they received a call at around 4 p.m., reporting a serious collision on County Road 18 near Chapel Road.

The motorcycle was carrying two people when it collided with the SUV, police say.

Police identified the victim as a 47-year-old man from Martintown in South Glengarry, Ont. His son remains in hospital as of Monday, police say.

The 30-year-old driver of the SUV from La Prairie, Que. was charged with operation causing death, operation causing bodily harm and operation while impaired.

The suspect was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Provincial Court of Justice on Monday.
