Speedy driver with ‘heavily’ damaged wheel stopped on Hwy. 416: OPP

An eastern Ontario driver is facing charges after being stopped for speeding on Highway 416 in Grenville County Friday morning, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say the driver was stopped after clocking 130 km/h on the highway south of Ottawa.

That was when the OPP officer noticed the rear passenger-side wheel was “heavily” damaged, police say.

The driver was charged with speeding and unsafe operation. The vehicle was also towed to a garage for necessary repairs, the OPP told CTV News Ottawa.

Police say driving with a damaged wheel puts everyone’s safety at risk, noting that it can cause major accidents.
