Amazing People: Shannon Tessier

Shannon Tessier has done an incredible amount for others in a very short time.

She's working on her PhD at Carleton University, studying hibernation in animals and determining how it can be applied to humans. One example of her work is figuring out how to get an organ to last longer.

Outside the lab, she's also committed to saving lives and educating children. Tessier has started her own charity called CHANCE: Charity of Hope to Assist Needy Children Everywhere.

As CTV's Kimothy Walker explains, it's her work outside the lab that may be more inspiring.
