Police seize fentanyl, other drugs during traffic stop in Ottawa’s Centretown

A man is facing several charges after police discovered over 150 grams of fentanyl and other drugs during a traffic stop in Ottawa.

The Ottawa Police Service says officers with the Centretown Neighbourhood Resource Team conducted a traffic stop in Centretown Monday night.

“The operation resulted in the confiscation of over 150 grams of fentanyl as well as crack cocaine, hydromorphone pills, and cannabis,” police said, calling it a “substantial drug seizure.”

The suspect is facing multiple charges under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, Criminal Code and “various driving related offences,” according to police.

The Ottawa Police Service’s Street Crime Unit continues to investigate.

“This significant seizure underscores the ongoing efforts of the Neighbourhood Resource Teams to combat drug trafficking and enhance community safety,” police said. “Their dedication continues to make a positive impact on the lives of Ottawa residents.”
