OPP charge 2 following traffic stop, search warrants in eastern Ontario

Two eastern Ontario men have been charged following an investigation that led to a traffic stop and the execution of search warrants in Stirling, Ont. this week, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The investigation started in April.

Police say they conducted a traffic stop on Church Street on Wednesday, where they searched the vehicle and arrested the two suspects without incident.

They then executed search warrants at two homes located on Church Street and seized more than 100 grams of suspected cocaine, over seven grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, items typically associated with drug trafficking and cash.

The two suspects, 56 and 44, have been charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both suspects remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stirling is 225 kilometres from Ottawa.
