One person dies in fiery Hwy. 401 collision near Gananoque

CTV Ottawa: Deadly crash along the 401 CTV's Matt Skube reports on a deadly crash along the 401 near Gananoque early this morning.

One person is dead after a fiery collision this morning on the Highway 401 near Gananoque.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. about 3 km west of Reynolds Road. Police say a westbound tractor trailer struck a parked safety truck. The tractor trailer caught fire on impact.

Police said the driver of the tractor trailer was killed. The driver, whose identity is not yet being revealed, was the lone occupant of the truck.

The highway was closed eastbound at Thousand Islands and westbound at Reynolds Road. The eastbound lanes have since opened.

The westbound highway is expected to remain closed until late this evening, police said. Traffic detours remain in place as police continue to investigate.
